Guinea Pigs can be a fun pet to have. A guinea pig doesn't take up much room so you can have one in a small apartment or house. You must be patient with a guinea pig and play with it gently. A guinea pig is a small animal and should be treated like a small animal. Never do anything to a guinea pig that would hurt the guinea pig.

A guinea pig can be bathed. Guinea pigs can get dirty and may need a bath. You can fill your bathroom sink with about an inch of water. The water should be just slightly warm to your touch. Make sure the water is not too hot for the guinea pig. You can use a wash cloth and mild soap to wash your guinea pig. Then give it a rinse in clean water that is not too hot. Bath time can be fun if you make it that way but be sure to keep the guinea pigs head above the water. Then take a clean towel and wrap the guinea pig in the towel to dry the guinea pig. Dry the guinea pig well so it does not get too cold.
The cage your guinea pig lives in should be kept clean. Guinea pigs can be messy animals so you may find keeping the guinea pigs cage clean a challenge. Guinea pigs like wood chips for a bedding but strips of paper will do too. The guinea pig should have a place that the guinea pig can be alone. Guinea pigs like some privacy like a small box to hide in.
Guinea pigs are vegetarians and they like to eat scraps from the kitchen. You can also buy guinea pig food at a pet store. Always keep plenty of water for your guinea pig to drink. Guinea pigs need water in their cage with them for drinking.
If you have more then one guinea pig in the same cage it is important to make sure the guinea pigs are the same sex. Or you will have more guinea pigs.
